Rep. Bob Good, R-Va., said he will step down as chair of the House Freedom Caucus by the end of the week, The Hill reported.
Good narrowly lost his reelection bid in August by 400 votes, sending the two-term congressman packing after being losing in a primary to state Sen. John McGuire. McGuire will face Democrat nominee Gloria Witt in November in the conservative-leaning district.
“Upon my recount being completed on August 2, I had told the board that I was submitting my resignation as chair, effective when the board decided to act upon it,” Good said.
