Former President Donald Trump’s running mate J.D. Vance expressed relief on Sunday, taking to X to write he’s glad the Republican nominee is safe.
“I’m glad President Trump is safe,” Vance wrote. “I spoke to him before the news was public and he was, amazingly, in good spirits. Still much we don’t know, but I’ll be hugging my kids extra tight tonight and saying a prayer of gratitude.”
According to The Hill, Trump’s communications director, Steven Cheung wrote in an initial statement, “President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity.”
